What if you could bend reality to your will? What if you could create and manifest exactly what you desire? Sounds amazing right? The Silva Mind Control Method seems to promise some miraculous things!
As a frequent meditator and wellness enthusiast, I decided to try The Silva Method and see if there was any truth to these claims. This post is ALL ABOUT the Silva Mind Control Method.
What is the Silva Mind Control Method?
Developed by Jose Silva in the 1960s, the Silva Mind Control Method is a program aimed at improving overall well-being through certain meditative techniques.
These techniques highlight the importance of the Alpha level, where your brain waves are both alert and calm. This state occurs most naturally right before you go to sleep or right after you wake up. Silva explains in his book, The Silva Mind Control Method, the specific steps to begin training your brain to get to Alpha level. The more you practice, states Silva, the more you will be able to access this state quickly and with ease.
The idea is that once you master getting in and out of this brain state, you can use this state to improve memory, improve sleep, learn things more quickly, boost creativity, and even influence the outcomes of your reality.
How to get into Alpha Level
According to Silva, the first way to practice getting into Alpha level is to practice right when you wake up, before doing anything else for the day. Get into a comfortable position, close your eyes and look up at a 20-degree angle, and count backward from 100 two times.
That’s it! You’re in Alpha level.
For about 10 days, practice at this interval, and then slowly change your counting to begin counting backwards from 50, then begin from 25, then begin at 10, and ultimately begin at five. By the end of 40 days, accessing the Alpha level should take you as little as five seconds.
To come out of this meditative state, tell yourself that you will slowly come out of Alpha level as you count to five, count from one to five, and then open your eyes.
The Next Step in the Silva Mind Control Method
Once you master getting in and out of Alpha level, Silva identifies many different things you can do. You can simply allow your mind to exist in a passive state, exploring memories, creative ideas, or emotions. You can focus on manifesting future ideas. You can create memory anchors, tell your brain what to dream about before you sleep, focus on imagining your body physically healing, and so much more!
How I applied the Silva Mind Control Method
As someone who has meditated regularly, I found that I was able to practice getting into Alpha level relatively quickly, which allowed me to start practicing some of the more dynamic meditation.
The first thing I noticed was that my ability to get into Alpha level varied based on how distracted or energized I was. If I recognized that I was in a more alert or scattered state, then I would start counting backward from 100, instead of just five. It was also helpful to practice mindfulness techniques, such as tuning into my five senses, before attempting to meditate.
For the past 45 days, I practiced the Silva Mind Control Method of meditation once a day for at least 15 minutes. I started with practicing self-exploration and passive meditation and then moved on to focusing on manifesting future outcomes and nurturing my creative mind.
What Happened after 45 Days of Meditation?
The fun thing about this method of meditation is that it’s not about quieting the mind or being completely silent, rather it’s about accessing different parts of the mind. As I practiced passive meditation, I was able to notice trapped emotions within my body, explore and release old belief systems, and better understand my inner child, inner critic, and overall self.
As I began to explore dynamic meditation, I practiced watching scenes on a movie screen within my mind. I was taught that the best way to do this is to, with your eyes closed, look up at a 20-degree angle and notice the timeline from present to future, with the future coming from the LEFT.
I imagined vague scenes of the future, ranging from succeeding in long-term goals, to having positive relationships, and even imagined having an abundance of wealth.
After 45 days, I can’t say that I won the lottery or have written a best-selling novel, but I can say that I noticed my life and my energy change drastically. I began to see images of ideas that hadn’t occurred to me before (for example, opening a new Wellness Center). It was as if I tapped into the Universe’s plans for me and all I had to do was follow along.
As I leaned into this path that was being presented, everything around me seemed to fall into place with ease. I began to feel that, even with taking major career and financial risks, I was at peace and on the right path. I began to feel almost no anger towards things or people that would normally upset me and started noticing an abundance of new and healthy connections with people in my local community.
But was it REALLY the Meditation that Helped?
I’ll be honest, I am naturally a skeptical person who prefers scientific research over believing one person’s personal experience. So, can I say for sure that this method is what caused such a drastic change in my life? I don’t know!
What I do know is that meditating alone has been scientifically proven to improve health, mood, and regulate the nervous system. Perhaps my calmer state allowed for a more creative mindset to open up, or for me to feel more comfortable taking risks. Or perhaps there really is something to being able to tap into a larger collective consciousness through this method. Whatever the cause, I intend to continue meditating and trying some of the more complex concepts of the Silva Mind Control Method, like speed learning!
